Aron Carlson

Aron Carlson began acting at the University of Kansas, graduating with a Bachelors degree in theater in the spring of 2002. He performed in the University Theater productions of Othello and Prairie Fire Part I-II. Aron has performed with E.A.T. Theater Co. and has had leading roles in their productions of The Glass Menagerie, Jocasta, and Fatherland. He also has performed with the Luprenia Holliday Project, a theater outreach troupe that mounted productions of Caperucita Roja, The Frog Prince, and The Three Little Pigs for disadvantaged audiences. In addition to these projects, Aron does commercial broadcast acting work with Exposure Model/Talent and is a performer/director with Improv-Abilities, an improvisational comedy troupe.
Scott Connerly

Scott 'Scottish' Connerly used to have stage fright in the 3rd grade, though you wouldn't be able to tell that today. A member of Improv-Abilities since 2004, Scott has also been a part of the sketch groups Grandma Mojo's Moonshine Revival and Hey, That's My Sandiwch. Currently the website guru, Scott takes particular joy in the guerrilla improv efforts of the troupe. When not doing improv stuff, Scott loves revieiwng restaurants and coffee shops, programming websites, and doing taekwondo. Oh yeah. And there's a day job too... for now.
Keith Curtis

Keith is proud to announce that he is one of the original members of the Improv-Abilities group. Since the beginning in 2000, Keith has been there. He was introduced to the group by Jim Montemeyer, the founder of the company. Keith was taking classes at Comedy Sportz at the time, but auditioned for the group, and the rest is history. Keith is now a part of the Kansas City Improv Festival Board and hopes that improv continues to grow throughout the Kansas City community.
Caroline Donnelly

Improv found Caroline mostly on accident during her brief stint as a writer for a short lived sketch comedy group. Since then, improv has become the strawberry jelly to her crunchy peanut butter, and the Improv-Abilities is the diagonally sliced, crustless wheat bread holding the sandwich together. And playwriting is the pudding cup to that sandwich. An award-winning playwright with several productions to her name, she is currently developing several writing projects, as well as exploring her talents as a painter, musician, and crossword puzzle master. Really, the only thing she can't do is use a can opener. Once she gets that down, she may very well earn a star on the Walk of Fame in her hometown of St. Louis.
Joe Henley

Joe Henley has been doing Improvisation since he was 15. Starting in the Kansas City High School League, he then went on to college. Joe is currently an active member of I-A as well as Babel Fish, another local area Improv troupe. He also enjoys writing Sketch Comedy.
Magie Hogan

Magie began her love affair with improv in 2002 with St. Louis’s own Five Finger Discount…VIVA DAS 5FD! Since then improv has been her religion. She digs theater but has a nasty little habit of being casted as the silly role. Even in a depressing Irish drama Dancing at Loughnasa, she played the fat sister who smoked cigarettes and made provocative comments that astonished the rest of the family. Her favorite theatrical experiences always include at least a little bit of interpretive dance. She is currently at UMKC studying stuff with hopes of one day majoring in something and being happy for the rest of her life. Her motto is "La vida es bella" which is just the sexy Spanish way to say that life is beautiful.
Timmy Marks

Timmy started improv comedy in 2000 to become a better public speaker and to have fun. Now he is co-director of the troupe and performs improv because he loves it. His entertainment resume has expanded since then, as he has acted in two local movies, one national T.V. commercial, three short films, and a play. He's also performed some stand-up comedy, and he sang some original song parodies at Pam Anderson's local, unauthorized wedding reception. In his spare time, he practices law and wishes he had more spare time. He loves his fellow performers for their talent, dedication, good looks, and because they make him laugh every week more than most people laugh in a month.
James Nelson

James is a student at UMKC, pursuing degrees in theatre, film, Shakespearean Drama, poetry, and fiction writing. They didn't have a major for improv, or he would do that too. He is actually trying to collect as many useless degrees as possible while still graduating on time. When he isn't actively petitioning for "jousting" to become a major or referring to himself in third person, he finds time to perform in plays with both the graduate and undergraduate departments at UMKC. James also runs an improv group at his university, but they aren't very funny. James is very excited to be part of Improv-Abilities, where he hopes to improv his improve...wait...James messed up the pun. Never mind.
Jim Sturgill

Jim "Magic Hands" Sturgill has absolutely no formal training in improv comedy. In actuality, Jim has no formal training in anything, which really makes his entire life improv training, which is convenient for Improv-Abilities. Jim was turned onto improv by his little brother and joined Mizzou's official Improv Comedy Team: Comedy Wars. Jim's long and storied (18 months) career with Comedy Wars cultivated within him a deep love of both making things up and his teammate and roommate Nathan Stewart. Jim enjoys playing bass guitar, writing things no one will ever read, running from things that aren’t chasing him, and dreams of competing as an Olympic Curler.
John Robison

John is one step closer to improv nirvana now that he and Improv-Abilities have found one another. He has previously performed improv with Kansas City's Full Frontal Comedy and at Chicago's Improv Olympic, where he soaked in as much long form as possible by graduating from the whole program. John acts and directs all over the city, or at least he did before the birth of his son. A Woody Allen wannabe, acting/directing highlights have included "The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged" as himself; "Misery" as Paul Sheldon, and "Groucho, A Life in Revue" as Groucho Marx.
Nathan Stewart

Nathan Stewart began attempting improv in 1997 at Winnetonka High School, with the group known as the 48th Street Players. Upon graduation, and his arrival at Mizzou, he quickly joined up with Comedy Wars: MU's Official Improv Team. Bear in mind that Comedy Wars was MU's only improv team, however it is important to quickly set up "barriers to entry" in any industry. Upon graduation, and his return to Kansas City in January 2007, he was able to trick Improv-Abilities into believing he was a talented improvisor, and he has been riding their coat tails ever since. If you are wondering were you stack up compared to Nathan, here are a few facts. Things Nathan is probably better than you at: Guitar Hero, useless knowledge about Japan, and cuddling. Things that you are probably better than Nathan at: being socially accepted, maintaining a relationship, and improv comedy.
Tommy Todd

Tommy has been performing improv comedy for 9 years. He started performing with his high school troupe, Liberty High School's "Exit 16". Since then, he has performed with Comedy City, Wit Pending, Lazy American, Eager Puppy, has performed two years at the Chicago Improv Festival, and currently performs with Straight Man and The Hypothetical 7 in addition to Improv-Abilities. He is also co-creator of The City 3 Project, a not for profit organization formed to increase awareness and knowledge of improv in Kansas City.
David Van Bebber

David Van Bebber is a recent graduate of Southwest Baptist University where he received a degree in communication. During his time as a student Dave competed on the speech and debate team and was active in the SBU theater department. While competing in speech and debate at SBU Dave was a part of two National Champions teams. Dave is proud to be apart of Improv-Abilites and as a newcomer looks forward to growing as an entertainer with the help of each member of the Improv-Abilites team.
Katie Watts

Katie joined Improv-Abilities in early 2006 with experience only in scripted theatre. She enjoys improvising much better, mainly because she is lazy and does not have to memorize lines, but also because of the amazing, unexpected things that can happen! This includes the random (and very real) punching of her fellow players. Katie is from Oklahoma City but is happy to call Kansas City her home. She works for a local non-profit, which means she makes crap for a salary but feels really good about herself. Truth be told, she will gladly accept wads of cash thrown at her on stage, and you might even get a tax break because of it.
